Claudia Cucchiara
Claudia joined SEAHL as a full-time research assistant after graduating from Loyola University New Orleans with her Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology. During her undergraduate education, she previously volunteered in a clinical psychology lab where she studied predictors of PTSD severity. She is passionate about suicide prevention and is enthusiastic about studying potential risk factors of suicidality in marginalized communities. After gaining additional experience in research, Claudia ended her term with SEAHL in June 2024 to pursue a PhD in Clinical Psychology at Oklahoma State University. In her free time, Claudia loves practicing aerial dance and watching anime.
Maria Menke
Maria joined the SEAHLab as a first year student at Rowan. She was majoring in psychology and considering a minor in sociology. In her free time Maria loves to cook and bake, and spend time with her friends and family.
Elisha Sotrah
Elisha joined SEAHL in Summer 2022 prior to his senior year and was with us for one year as an undergraduate research assistant. He majored in biology with a minor in psychology. He has worked previously in the Ecological Diversity Group (EDGe) Lab. His academic and career goals are primarily aimed at getting into medical school and ultimately practicing Psychiatry. Elisha's hobbies include watching scary movies, rewatching The Office, spending time outdoors, and listening to and learning to play music.
Jared Richards
Jared graduated from Rowan University with a Bachelor of Science degree in psychology before joining SEAHL as a full-time study coordinator, starting in November 2019. As an undergraduate student, they completed an Honors Independent Study in Rowan’s Mindfulness, Stress, & Health lab. Jared is interested in studying the interplay of biological, psychological and socio-cultural factors underlying emotional health, and applying these findings toward the development of assessments and interventions for underserved and/or neurodiverse populations. After gaining experience as a Study Coordinator, Jared ended their term with SEAHL in July 2022 to pursue a PhD in Clinical Psychology at Stony Brook University. In their free time, Jared enjoys learning how to cook, listening to music, exploring nature trails and making their friends laugh.
Sydney Fulton
Sydney joined our lab during her senior year and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology in Spring 2022. She is from Stratford, New Jersey. Sydney has an interest in mental disorders and trauma and how they affect the brain and development. She hopes to pursue a Masters in Psychology and eventually a PhD in Clinical Psychology. She is an avid Manga reader and enjoys painting and drawing.
Trey Scull
Trey was a research assistant until his graduation in Spring 2022. He is looking forward to pursuing his Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. His main interests lie in promoting wellness in all communities. Trey enjoys cooking, reading, and traveling in his spare time!
Megan Mason
Megan joined SEAHL as an undergraduate research assistant in February 2020 and graduated from Rowan University with her Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology in May 2021. She is currently enrolled in the Master of Arts in psychology program at Rutgers - Camden, where she will have the opportunity to collaborate with faculty on basic and applied research. Megan is interested in studying the relationships between psychosocial factors and adjustment to chronic health conditions during her graduate training, and currently plans to pursue a graduate degree in clinical psychology in the future. In her free time, Megan enjoys spending time with friends and family and shopping with her twin sister.
Jonathan Gamutan
Jonathan worked as a research assistant in our lab during his sophomore and junior year. He plans to pursue a career in social psychology. He is an active member of Psi Chi and in his free time enjoys weightlifting, hiking, and watching anime.
Dr. Samantha Mattheiss
Inspired by her experiences living and teaching in distressed communities, Samantha received a doctorate in Psychology with a concentration in Neuroscience from Rutgers University – Newark. Her research interests include examining the physiological underpinnings of individual differences in cognitive-affective processing; and investigating the benefits of intrinsic rewards for individuals with divergent reward processing. She is passionate about translating research into interventions at both the individual and community level. Samantha joined SEAHL as a post-doctoral research associate in 2020, and is now continuing her work as an Assistant Professor at Felician University. In her free time, she enjoys exploring nature and doing science experiments with her children.
Chris Pellegrino
Chris majored in Psychological Science and served as a research assistant until his graduation in Spring 2022. Chris plans to pursue a graduate degree in Clinical Psychology, with the intention to study addiction behavior, specifically amongst prison/formerly incarcerated populations. In his free time, Chris enjoys playing board games with his family, reading, playing video games, and helping those around him.
Sarah Transue
Sarah graduated in December 2020. She majored in psychology and minored in neuroscience at Rowan University. She is now providing behavioral health services through the Bancroft system, and plans on going to graduate school for a master’s degree in mental health counseling, specializing in marriage and family therapy. She enjoys reading novels by Dan Brown, cardiovascular exercise, and watching The Office.
